The LEA must engage in consultation with stakeholders and give the public an opportunity to provide input.   Specifically, the LEA must engage in meaningful consultation with students, families, school and district administrators (including special education administrators), teachers, principals, school leaders, other educators, staff, and unions. Further, the meaningful consultation must extend to Tribes, civil rights organizations (including disability rights organizations), and stakeholders representing the interests of children with disabilities, English Learners, children experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, migratory students, children who are incarcerated, and other underserved students. Finally, the LEA’s plan must be in an understandable and uniform format, written in a language that parents can understand, orally translated, and, upon request by a parent who is an individual with a disability, provided in an alternative format accessible to that parent. The Plan must consist of the following:

 

1. The extent to which and how the funds will be used to implement prevention and mitigation strategies that are, to the greatest extent practicable, consistent with the most recent CDC guidance on reopening schools, in order to continuously and safely open and operate schools for in order to continuously and safely open and operate schools for in-person learning;

 

Calvin Public Schools plans to utilize ESSER III funds to Prepare, Prevent, and/ or Respond to the Covid 19 impact on our district. The Committee recommends that Calvin I.S.D.’s overall use of funds will be used to ensure the safety for students and staff. Calvin School will follow all state and Federal Mandates while encouraging CDC recommendations and healthy practices throughout the school day.

  • Replace flooring in multipurpose facilities to enable better cleaning.  
  • Contract to clean/disinfect seating in after-school tutoring area to prevent the spread of COVID-19

 

2. How the LEA will use the funds it reserved under section 2001(e)(1) of the ARP Act [20% of ESSER Act formula funds] to address the academic impact of lost instructional time through the implementation of evidence-based interventions, such as summer learning or summer enrichment, extended day, comprehensive afterschool programs, or extended school year;

Calvin Public Schools plans to utilize ESSER III funds to Prepare, Prevent, and/ or Respond to the Covid 19 impact on our district. The committee recommends the following to address learning loss by;

  • Hiring a Reading Specialist to assist elementary students during school day/summer/extended day
  • Hiring an additional paraprofessional to meet the increased demand for student services
  • Out-of-school academic enrichment
  •  Summer enrichment opportunities

 

Calvin will focus on the academic gap from last year by addressing the district areas of focus while looking at individual scores of students through our benchmark tests and state tests. Calvin is a rural and low socioeconomic community where students have obstacles that present them with academic enrichment experiences. The committee would like to use these funds to promote academic growth.

 

3. How the LEA will spend its remaining ESSER funds consistent with the uses authorized in section 2001(e)(2) of the ARP Act; and

Calvin Public Schools plans to remaining ESSER III funds to Prepare, Prevent, and/ or Respond to the Covid 19 impact on our district. The committee recommends using funds to;

  • technology for students and teachers to be utilized for virtual learning (computers, laptops, iPads, and software)
  • instructional and supplemental materials for students and teachers
  • personnel needed to improve academic gaps in response to COVID-19
  • additional cost in insurance due to COVID-19 outbreak

 

 

 

 

 

4. How the LEA will ensure that the interventions it implements, including but not limited to those implemented under section 2001(e)(1) [20% set aside], will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of students, and particularly those students disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, including students from low-income families, students of color, English learners, children with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children in foster care and migratory students

 

Calvin Public Schools plans to utilize ESSER III funds to Prepare, Prevent, and/ or Respond to the Covid 19 impact on our district. The committee recommends the following to address learning loss in student subgroups that have been significantly impacted by COVID-19.

English Learners

Information and communication will be given to students and families in their first native language. The creation of after-school tutoring and academic programs offered by Calvin employees to assist in closing the gap for students at all levels.

Tribal consultation will be done annually for native students.

Funds will be available for students with IEPs and guardians will be made aware of funds during IEP meetings
